Fax message received from Dr. Arvind Kasturi on 9 Nov,1993 via
CHAI Hyderabad■

Greetings from Nandurga camp ‘ This message is divided into
two sections.
A. WORK
The focus of activity at the camp has shifted from medical
relief to primary health care. Clinics continue to be held at the
base camp and at outreach sites, but are only a part of overall
activity. The camp covers an 8 - village region in Ausa taluk,
Latur district. Personnel have divided into 5 teams, 4 for the
periphery and one for the base. Objectives have been set and
methodology is being field tested in the areas of immunisation,
water / sanitation, education, under five care
womens health,
n addition to psychosocial care. Health education is beginning
ro be introduced. All activities are planned and organised
keeping in mind the limitations in terms of personnel and time.

B. MEED
As mentioned in the previous fax message, specific
statements of need are being sent to CHAI, Secunderabad. The team
that reached here on 1/11/93 will leaving on 14/11/93. Efforts
are on by CHAI to try and extend the stay of some of some
personnel. The Bangalore groups could coordinate with CHAI office
and organise teams. In general, the need for doctors is about 4 5 at a time in the camp, and the need for general / social work
volunteers os more, Knowledge of Marathi is an asset,5 since more
people based activity is being planned.
