OF KRIPALYA FATHERS, Mysore
Community Health Cell conducted a two-day orientation on Community Healjth for
Kripalya scholosticates was held in Mysore on 19th and 20th November The topics
covered and the feedback given by the participants are furnished below.
A
Community Health Course
•
It was very enriching, broadened the horizons of my knowledge in the field of Health
care. Now 1 understand holistic health and how as a priest I can promote. Il helped
me to be to be sympathetic towards the sick and enabled carry out the healing mission
of Christ to all irrespective of caste, color and creed.

It was very much enriching, helped me to aware about the sick and at the same time to
be sympathetic. The course has enlightened me in many ways.

I came to know many things about health care health and medicine, holistic health

It enriched me in various ways; it changed my earlier understanding regarding
community health. It helped me to understand that community without health, as
health without community is useless. So we need to integrate both. Secondly it helped
me to be aware of pastoral assistant to the people whom I am going to serve.

Yes it enriched my knowledge concerning Indian ways of using medicine for the
ailments I came to know the dedication and commitment of some of the people we
can get inspiration form them fore our ministry. How one can reach people of rural
, areas, I have got insight.

Let the course be conducted for longer duration.

I got inspiration after visiting SVVM. I am charged with enthusiasm and joy to serve
people more and more with my commitment.
It Weis rather useful and informative
FIELD VISIT
•
Helped me clear creative ways of imparting formal and nor formal education. I
appreciate the dedication and commitment of the youth in working for the tribal in
enabling them to feel worthy of their dignity. I learned a lesson " where there is a will
there is way.

The dedication and commitment of youth is inspiring, where there is will there is
way. It has helped me how to create ways of imparting formal and non formal
education

It was very good, well organized social center, the education center is child centered
and eco friendly, the doctors and social worker are making lots of sacrifices for the
welfare of the less fortunate people.

and cordial relationships among themselves as well as with the visitors touched me
very much, in this work I perceived not dividing people and sowing seed of discord,
but uniting and promoting a harmonious society.

Learnt something’s about nature cure through Fr.Thomas maliakerl
•
As such it was good but it was too tight, the place should not have been in kripalaya
but in some wehre else because due to structure bond we weren’t able to be flexible in
our timetable.
•
On the whole I like it thanks for taking the pain and serving us.
•
The talk on priest as healer could have been omitted because we do study extensively
about it. Some practical tips about different kinds herbs and its usages, how to deal
with patients who are chronically ill, snakebites.

Priest as healer, two days duration is too short how to deal with patients who are
chronically ill would have been beneficial.
Some more doctors would have been better for other talks
•
Some videocassette on community health could have been shown; since we know/
teaching of church on health there is no need to deal with this subject.

The lime was too short, all the resource persons were rushing through, there should i
have been some practical than simply receiving theory. Thirdly if the doctors would i
have given more important to share of their own experience success, as well as set /
backs rather than theoretical aspect of the programme.
•
Some practical session on herbs would have been useful. Visit to orphanage and !
handicapped also would have been useful.
•
Time was too short, in view of time constrain some input could have been avoided
and done only important ones.
1 felt it was OK and the time could have been extended.
Holistic Health - Dr. Sampath Krishnan

have prepared well then it would have been some effect on us.
